Introducing

For situations when temperature control of the crystals is not required, we offer Quartz Crystal Microbalances in two models: The MK19 and MK21.  Though they have no onboard heating or cooling features to remotely control the temperature of the crystals, they can be equipped with a temperature sensor if desired.  These QCMs are often selected when they will be used to record contamination accumulation over the life of flight optics or an orbiting solar panel for example.  Sensitivity and total mass to be measured can be optimized for your configuration with a 10MHz or 15MHz crystal selection.

At only 4.0 grams and .402”in length, the MK21 is designed to accommodate customers with size and weight limitations.  In contrast, the MK19 has an extra rugged design with larger supporting struts, and can operate at colder temperatures than the MK21.  Though light in weight, the MK19 weighs considerably more at ~19.7 grams, though it is more sensitive than the MK21.

To communicate with the CQCMs we have two types of controllers, the M2000 which is designed to work with vacuum chambers in a lab environment, and the M3000 which is designed for flight projects.   Both work as a controller and an interface between the customers’ host computer and the QCMs.

Ideal for lab work, QCMs are of a rugged design able to withstand shock and vibration.  Flight qualified versions are also available with complete environmental testing to your specifications and have flight history.  Contact us to help determine which QCMs best suit your specific requirements.
